Symbolism & Tribute

Chris grew sunflowers in 1993 (I think), they grew up to the second story apartments above us and had huge heads of seed for the birds.

A Blue Swallowtail Butterfly and clouds were one of the first messages Chris sent me, and most certainly
the most grand. Read about it here (scroll down to the blue text)

1st release

The basket was placed in the middle of a circle formed by friends, family and loved ones.

I shared with my family and friends
how my relationship with Chris continues,
and how he has lead me to
that faith.

Memories of You

Bittersweet
Memories of you.
Running through my heart
Make me stand quite still
And I cannot speak
I forget to breathe
And then I start

You show me how to live even now
All my sweet, sweet memories of you
You show me how to love even now
All my sweet, sweet memories of you

A call, a kiss, so many nights
We'd never trade them for the world
And I would cry every tear again
Just to hold onto the memories
Of what we shared

You show me how to live even now
All my sweet, sweet memories of you
You show me how to love even now
All my sweet, sweet memories of you

Each day the sun will rise
And the sun will set
It will always be beautiful
The sky and I will cry
We will cry for you
And then we'll watch the flowers bloom

You show me how to live even now
All my sweet, sweet memories of you
You show me how to love even now
All my sweet, sweet memories of you

Music and words written by Karen Hatch
(Chris's Aunt, my Sister, my Best Friend)

Karen dedicated this song to Chris on his 5th Angelversary by performing it at his Butterfly Release Ceremony. I hope to soon have video of it posted here, to share it's beauty with all who visit.

After we released the butterflies and enjoyed their lingering around us,
we went into the screen house to share memories of Chris.

Jill ~Jools' Mom

Jill reading Carol's poem

So many words I wanted to say

But my tears have washed them away
As you honor your precious son
Remember, the devil has not won
Chris is with our Lord above
Protected by His perfect love

The butterfly’s that you release
I pray will bring you feelings of peace
As they fly there gentle flight
Chris is keeping you in sight
Smiling down with all his love
From his home in heaven above

I humbly kneel and bow my head
On this day, when many tears are shed
And ask our Father in heaven above
To surround your days with peace and love
And walk with you ‘till your time does come
And you are reunited with your beloved son.

Candi ~Charity's Mom

Candi reading poem by Lisa Lynne Mathis

This road’s been long
Now I must go
If I could I would stay
But what is true
In your heart you must know
I’ll see you again someday
I’ll see you again someday

I held on
As long as I was meant to
I held on longer still
I’m safe in this place
Where I’ll be forever
And I will wait for you
Yes, I’ll be waiting for you

When you come for the greatest embrace
That you will ever receive
You will see there had always been space
For the joy that you need to just keep on living
I’ll be waiting
And one day I’ll be in your arms again.

Can you believe that I am there with you
As you move through your day
I know you’re sad
But if you do love me
You’ll give all you have to each day
And love with abandon
And pray

When you come for the greatest embrace
That you will ever receive
You will see there had always been space
For the joy that you need to just keep on living
I’ll be waiting
And one day I’ll be in your arms again.

We may never know why
But then logic and reason
Never applied to our love anyway
